This ytmp3 video converter turns a YouTube address into a file on your device. A single link goes in, and what comes back is either a video you can watch offline or an audio track you can play anywhere, whichever you picked. It is free to use, there is nothing to install and nothing to sign up for, and the whole job takes about as long as it takes to read this paragraph.

Both formats come out of the same box. Choose MP4 when the picture matters and you want the clip intact. Choose MP3 when you only ever wanted the sound. You can run the same link through twice and take both.

Using this ytmp3 online converter, step by step

Copy the video's address. Open the video on YouTube and copy the URL from the address bar, or use the app's Share → Copy link. YTMP3 reads one video per link.
Paste it into the field above. The box sits at the top of this page. You do not need to trim the link — the tracking parameters YouTube adds are ignored.
Press MP4 or MP3. MP4 keeps the picture and the sound; MP3 keeps only the sound. Your choice is the only decision the tool asks you to make.

The name

Which YTMP3 is this?

The ytmp3 name is not one website. Dozens of unrelated addresses use it, and several of them do not run a converter of their own at all. When we typed them on 16 September 2026, ytmp3.cc, ytmp3.cx and ytmp3.ai each answered with a single redirect to convertytmp3.org, while ytmp3.nu, ytmp3.la and ytmp3.as all landed on one page at ytmp3.gl. ytmp3.com, which ran a converter of its own in Internet Archive captures up to December 2022, served a one-word parking stub that day, with no heading, no form and no converter on any path we asked for.

This site is fixman.com.pl. It is independent: not affiliated with YouTube or Google, and not connected to any of the addresses above. It carries no advertising, has no app or browser extension to install, and never asks for permission to send you browser notifications.

So the way to tell where you are is the address bar. If it reads fixman.com.pl, you are on the page you are reading now, and pressing MP4 or MP3 opens nothing else: no new tab, no pop-up, no prompt in the corner of the screen asking you to allow notifications.

MP4: the whole video in one file

MP4 is the format to pick when you want to watch the video rather than just hear it. You get the moving picture and the audio in one file, playable by every phone, laptop, tablet and television made in the last decade.

What resolution you get

YTMP3 hands you the best video stream the source offers, up to 1080p. It never invents detail that is not there: if a video was uploaded at 720p, converting it will not produce a sharper file, no matter which option you choose. Very large files take proportionally longer to assemble, so a long clip at the highest resolution is the slowest thing this tool does.

When MP4 is the right button

You want to watch the video somewhere without a reliable connection — a flight, a train, a commute.
You are keeping a tutorial, a talk or a lecture where what is on screen carries the meaning.
You plan to edit the clip afterwards, and you need the picture as well as the sound.
You want to send the whole thing to somebody who will open it on a phone.

Audio

MP3: the sound on its own, at 192–320 kbps

MP3 strips the video away and leaves you with an audio file. It is the smaller of the two results by a wide margin — a few minutes of audio weighs about as much as a photograph — and it plays in every music app, podcast player and car stereo ever made.

What the bitrate number actually means

Bitrate is how much data the file spends per second of sound. YTMP3 produces audio in the 192–320 kbps range, which is the top of what MP3 can usefully do. Higher bitrates preserve more of the high frequencies and subtle detail; lower ones start to smear cymbals and background instruments first. For speech, almost anything above 128 kbps is indistinguishable. For dense music, the top of the range is worth having.

One honest caveat: MP3 is a lossy format, so the audio is re-encoded rather than copied bit-for-bit from the source. If you are archiving music and want a perfect copy, an MP4 is the closer match to what YouTube actually stores.

What will not work

A playlist page, a channel page or a search results page is not a single video, so there is nothing for the tool to convert. Open the video you want first, then copy that address. A live stream still in progress cannot be saved either — wait until it has ended and the recording appears.

Finding the saved file on a phone or a computer

iPhone and iPad

With Safari the file goes to the Files app, under Downloads. If your browser asks whether to open or save it, choose save so it does not play once and vanish.
Android

Chrome writes the file to your Downloads folder and posts a notification when it arrives. Both audio and video files are usually picked up by your gallery or player automatically.
Windows and Mac

Everything lands in the Downloads folder of your user account, and your browser keeps a recent list if you want to open the folder with one more click.

Troubleshooting

If the conversion stops before the file arrives

Nearly every failure is one of the handful below, and the status line usually tells you which. Failures are reported in the form Code: stage.number — the stage names where it broke, and the number is what the service replied.

The status line says the link is not a video

The address you pasted points at a playlist, a channel, a search page or a live stream that has not finished. Open the individual video and copy that address instead.

It stopped at Code: 1.0

The service could not be reached at all. That is usually a hiccup on the network between you and us rather than anything about your link. Wait a few seconds and press the button again.

It stopped at Code: 2 or Code: 3

The link was read but the video could not be prepared. This is the signature of a video that is region-restricted, age-restricted, or private. Nothing on this page can change that — the source is refusing to hand the file over.

The bar crawls or stalls near the end

Long videos at the highest resolution genuinely take longer; there is no way to make a two-hour file assemble as fast as a three-minute one. Leave the tab open. If the bar has not moved at all in a couple of minutes, start the conversion again.

It says the conversion failed with 429

Too many requests arrived at once, either from you or from the wider service. Give it a minute rather than pressing the button repeatedly — retrying immediately keeps the limit in place.

The download started but the file will not play

An interrupted download leaves a partial file. Delete it and run the same link again from the beginning. The signature that lets the download start is short-lived, so a resumed transfer will not work; only a fresh conversion will.

Safety

What this page loads, and what it never asks for

The page is a plain static document: it runs no code from other sites, it does not install anything, and it never asks for your YouTube password or your email address. The link you paste is read in your browser — only the video identifier is sent onward, not the address you copied.

No account, so there is no password of yours to lose.
No advertising networks and no pop-ups, which is also why there are no decoy buttons to mis-click.
No request to send you browser notifications, so nothing can arrive after you close the tab.
The page loads its own fonts and its own icons; it fetches nothing from third-party content networks.

Even so, treat a download site the way you would treat any other: if a page offers you a “download accelerator”, a browser extension or a prize, it is not this one. What you may save, and what we block

YTMP3 is an independent tool. It is not affiliated with YouTube, Google or any content owner, and it has no special access to anything — it converts videos that are publicly visible to anyone.

What you may download is a question about the video, not about the tool. Downloading your own uploads, videos published under a licence that permits it, or material you have been given permission to keep is unremarkable. Saving a commercial film, a paid course or somebody else's work without permission is not, and in most countries it is the downloader — not the website — who carries the responsibility.

If a rights holder asks us to stop converting a particular video, we block that identifier outright, so the tool refuses it rather than merely hiding it. The process is described on the copyright page, and the rules for using the site are in the terms of service.

Questions

Common questions about this converter

Is YTMP3 really free?

Yes. There is no paid tier, no conversion credit and no subscription to forget about. There is also no advertising on the page, which is the part that surprises people.

Do I need to create an account?

No. The tool has no sign-in at all. Paste a link and press a button — there is nothing to register and nothing to log into later.

Is there a limit on how many videos I can convert?

There is no counter and no credit system, so nothing is deducted as you go. There is a rate limit: a sustained burst of conversions is answered with a 429 for a short while. Slowing down clears it, and retrying at once only keeps it in place.

Is this the official YTMP3 site?

There is no official one we can point you to. The name is used by many unrelated addresses, several of which redirect elsewhere or serve no converter at all. This site is fixman.com.pl and speaks only for itself. We list what each address did on the day we checked on our ytmp3 sites page.

Why do other ytmp3 sites show pop-ups and ask to allow notifications?

Because a browser can only push messages at you once you have pressed Allow. MalwareTips writes that ytmp3.cc “tries to trick you into subscribing to its push notifications” so that it can send spam, and says much the same of ytmp3.nu. The pop-ups page has the steps to revoke that permission.

What is the highest video quality available?

Up to 1080p, and only as high as the original upload. A video that was uploaded in 480p cannot be converted into anything better than 480p by any tool.

What bitrate are the MP3 files?

Between 192 and 320 kbps, depending on what the source provides. That is the top of the useful range for MP3, and for speech it is far more than enough.

Can I download a whole playlist at once?

Not in one go. YTMP3 works on one video per link, so a playlist page has nothing to parse. Convert the videos you want one at a time.

Does it work with YouTube Shorts?

Yes. Shorts are ordinary videos behind a different URL shape, and YTMP3 reads the shorts address just like any other link.

Which devices can I use it on?

Anything with a current browser: Android, iPhone, iPad, Windows, macOS, Linux and ChromeOS. There is no app to install on any of them.

Do I need to install a browser extension?

No, and you should be sceptical of any download site that asks you to. Everything happens on this page, inside the tab you already have open.

Why does the download not start immediately?

The video has to be fetched from YouTube and re-packaged before there is a file to hand you. Short clips take a few seconds; a long video at full resolution can take a good deal longer.

Can I use YTMP3 on a video that is age-restricted?

Usually not. Videos that require a signed-in account to watch cannot be fetched, and the conversion will fail. The same applies to private videos and to content blocked in your region.

Is it legal to download YouTube videos?

It depends entirely on the video and on where you live. Your own uploads and openly licensed material are normally fine. Commercial content is normally not, unless you have permission. YTMP3 does not make that judgement for you and cannot grant you rights it does not hold.

Does YTMP3 keep a copy of what I convert?

The file is assembled in order to be handed to your browser, and nothing about your conversion is tied to an identity, because there is no account to tie it to. The privacy policy spells out the few technical details that are logged.
